Loud Cry

How does the fourth angel relate to the third angel?

It’s like an addition that makes the third angel’s work more powerful.
The work of this angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry. And the people of God are fitted up every where to stand in the hour of temptation which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united in the message, and fearlessly proclaimed with great power the third angel’s message. {1SG 193.2}

What are the two parts to the Loud Cry?

1. Babylon is fallen
2. Come out of her my people.
Rev 18:4
What are the two parts to the final warning?

1. the two parts of the loud cry
3. third angel’s message
Rev. 18:2-4

Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. ” In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people. These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth. {GC 604.1}

What is the difference between “Babylon is fallen” in the second angel’s message of Revelation 14, as given in the summer of 1844, and “Babylon is fallen” in the Loud Cry of Revelation 18?

It’s the same thing but with corruptions of the church.

The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is again given, with the addition of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry. And the people of God are fitted up every where to stand in the hour of temptation which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united in the message, and fearlessly proclaimed with great power the third angel’s message. {1SG 193.2}

Babylon is become: “the habitation of devils,” “the hold of every foul spirit,” “and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” Explain each of these elements.

The habitation of devils: habitation means dwelling place, the habitation of devils is the corrupt churches in which the devils dwell.
As the teachings of spiritualism are accepted by the churches, the restraint imposed upon the carnal heart is removed, and the profession of religion will become a cloak to conceal the basest iniquity. A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches. {GC 603.2}

The hold of every foul spirit: this is the people that have been taken over by devils and let them influence them.
They had chosen a ruler who chained them to his car as captive… Satanic agencies were incorporated with men. The bodies of human beings, made for the dwelling place of God, had become the habitation of demons. The senses, the nerves, the passions, the organs of men, were worked by supernatural agencies in the indulgence of the vilest lust. The very stamp of demons was impressed upon the countenances of men. Human faces reflected the expression of the legions of evil with which they were possessed. {DA 36.3}

A cage of every unclean foul and hateful bird: bird in the Bible represents people, so this is a cage of every unclean and hateful people. This “cage” represents that these people have been trapped in a place because of their willing refusal to come out of Babylon even though they knew the truth. so their sins have trapped them in a cage.

List and explain the sins of Babylon, as stated in Revelation 18.

1. Drinking her wine.: the exalting of the false Sabbath.\
The wine of Babylon is the exalting of the false and spurious sabbath above the Sabbath which the Lord Jehovah hath blessed and sanctified for the use of man, also [it is] the immortality of the soul. These kindred heresies, and the rejection of the truth, convert the church into Babylon. Kings, merchants, rulers, and religious teachers are all in corrupt harmony. {2SM 68.2}
God denounces Babylon “because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” This means that she has disregarded the only commandment which points out the true God, and has torn down the Sabbath, God’s memorial of creation. {7BC 979.5}”
2. committed fornication with her: Exalting themselves above God, trying to change times.
But the man of sin, exalting himself above God, sitting in the temple of God, and showing himself to be God, thought to change times and laws. This power, thinking to prove that it was not only equal to God, but above God, changed the rest day, placing the first day of the week where the seventh should be. And the Protestant world has taken this child of the papacy to be regarded as sacred. In the Word of God this is called her fornication. {7BC 979.7}

3. the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. Rev 18:3  this is the “Extravagance in the use of means, selfishness, heresies, have taken the world captive. For centuries satanic agencies have been at work. Will they now give up without a struggle (MS 172, 1899)? {7BC 985.3}”

When does Babylon’s sins reach unto heaven?

“ when the law of God is finally made void by legislation” which I perceive to be the starting of the Sunday law.
When do her sins reach unto heaven [Rev. 18:2-5]? When the law of God is finally made void by legislation.–ST June 12, 1893. {LDE 198.5}

Why does Revelation 18 say that Babylon receives the plagues?

Because of her sins.
“ And I heard another voice from heaven saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

If you are honestly serving God, what difference does it make which church you belong to? [according to Revelation 18]

It is to know what church you belong and to be in the right church. Because if you belong to an apostatized church and you do not heed the call to come out of Babylon as the call is given in Rev 18, then you will experience the plagues that will come on Babylon and you would be busted.

Why are there only two distinct calls made to the churches?

Ellen White draws a direct correlation between the calls to the churches and Jesus’ cleansing of the sanctuary. Jesus cleansed at the beginning of his work on earth, this cleansing showed the starting of his work. The last cleansing was showing the end of his work. I think it is the same thing with calls for the churches. The first call was at the beginning of Christ’s work in the most holy place and it wanted people to start getting serious about Christ. The last call was to tell people that time is running out because the close of Christ’s work is at hand and after that there will be no more chances.

When is the Loud Cry suppose to be given?]

It is to be given to all the world now.
The message of the angel following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world. It is to be the harvest message. –Letter 86, 1900. {LDE 208.1}

What is it that gives power to the Loud voice [Cry]?

Latter rain
At that time the “latter rain,” or refreshing from the presence of the Lord, will come, to give power to the loud voice of the third angel, and prepare the saints to stand in the period when the seven last plagues shall be poured out.–EW 86 (1854). {LDE 186.4}

TAM

What is the core content of the third angel’s message?
Justification by faith, and Christ’s mediation work and the truth of God’s commandments and that they are still valid.
Those who had accepted the light concerning the mediation of Christ and the perpetuity of the law of God, found that these were the truths brought to view in the third message.” {4SP 275.2}
Several have written to me, inquiring if the message of justification by faith is the third angel’s message, and I have answered, “It is the third angel’s message in verity.”– Review and Herald, April 1, 1890. {Ev 190.3}
When did Jesus send the third angel’s message?
When He entered the Most Holy place, which was shortly after October 22, 1844.
When Christ entered the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to perform the closing work of the atonement, he committed to his servants the last message of mercy to be given to the world. Such is the warning of the third angel of Revelation 14 {4SP 273.1}
How did the third angel light up the past, the present, and the future to the early advent believers after the passing of the time in 1844?
Past: it explains their disappointment
Present: it shows the truth about the commandments especially the Sabbath.
Future: it shows that there will be a final atonement and the way to enter in to the most holy place is by faith where they will find Jesus who can prepare them for the marriage..

After Jesus opened the door of the most holy, the light of the Sabbath was seen, and the people of God were tested, as the children of Israel were tested anciently, to see if they would keep God’s law. I saw the third angel pointing upward, showing the disappointed ones the way to the holiest of the heavenly sanctuary. As they by faith enter the most holy, they find Jesus, and hope and joy spring up anew. I saw them looking back, reviewing the past, from the proclamation of the second advent of Jesus, down through their experience to the passing of the time in 1844. They see their disappointment explained, and joy and certainty again animate them. The third angel has lighted up the past, the present, and the future, and they know that God has indeed led them by His mysterious providence. {EW 254.2}

Why does the evangelical Christian world not accept the truth of Christ’s change of ministration from the holy place to the most holy place in 1844?
If the evangelical Christians were to accept the most holy place, they would also have to accept the validity of God’s law. This would mean they would have to keep the seventh day Sabbath. This would go against what they have been doing for many years. So they would rather hold on to tradition than to follow the truth.

Many and earnest were the efforts made to overthrow their faith. None could fail to see that if the earthly sanctuary was a figure or pattern of the heavenly, the law deposited in the ark on earth was an exact transcript of the law in the ark in Heaven, and that an acceptance of the truth concerning the heavenly sanctuary involved an acknowledgment of the claims of God’s law, and the obligation of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. Here was the secret of the bitter and determined opposition to the harmonious exposition of the Scriptures that brought to view the ministration of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. How hard men tried to close the door which God had opened, and to open the door which he had closed! But “He that openeth and no man shutteth, and shutteth and no man openeth,” had declared, “Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.” [REV. 3:7, 8.] Christ had opened the door, or ministration, of the most holy place, light was shining from that open door of the sanctuary in Heaven, and the fourth commandment was shown to be included in the law within the ark; what God had established, no man could overthrow. {4SP 275.1}
How is the message of justification by faith the third angel’s message?
The third angels message is Christ’s work in the most holy place. In the most holy place Christ is doing is last work which is the final atonement. We need to be spotless if we are to come before the marriage. But to be spotless we need to accept Christ righteousness by faith.
This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family. All power is given into His hands, that He may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel’s message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure. –Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 91-93. (1896) {Ev 190.4}
What is the purpose of the numbering system for the angels’ messages of Revelation 14?
The different numbers for the different angels were given for the different people at that the time and once one message ended another started.
“The three messages are but one threefold message. They are three only in the order of their rise. But having risen, they go on together and are inseparable.” {GC 693 appendix}
How do the first, second, and third angels’ messages all blend into one?
The first message is announcing the investigative judgment. The second message is talking about the fall of those who rejected the first message. And the third message is Christ’s work in the most holy place. You can see that the common thing has to do with the most holy place. One talking about whats going to happen in the most holy place, the other is talking about those who rejected the truth about the most holy place and the last one is Christ’s work in the most holy place.
How can you show that the mediation of Christ and the perpetuity of the law of God are the truths of the third angel’s message?
In Revelation 14:9 it says “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
So first of all this shows that the “saints” they keep all the commandments including the seventh day Sabbath. But people cannot keep these on their own it they need Christ’s mediation so that Christ can cover us and God will be able to see him not your sinful character.
Where is the “here” in Revelation 14:12: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God” “and their faith in Jesus.”
The most holy place.
The third angel closes his message thus: “Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” As he repeated these words, he pointed to the heavenly sanctuary. the minds of all who embrace this message are directed to the most holy place, where Jesus stands before the ark, making His final intercession for all those for whom mercy still lingers. This atonement is made for the righteous dead as well as for the righteous living. {EW 254.1}
What is the “action step[s]” for the third angel’s message?
To enter the most holy place, accept Christ’s wedding garment to cover you and protect you at the judgment also that the law is still valid and to follow it. This all must be done in faith and not by works.
but the third angel was pointing them to the most holy place, and those who had had an experience in the past messages were pointing them the way to the heavenly sanctuary. Many saw the perfect chain of truth in the angels’ messages, and gladly received them in their order, and followed Jesus by faith into the heavenly sanctuary.{EW 256.2}
“They had by faith followed their High Priest from the holy to the most holy…Within that sacred ark is the Father’s law, the same that was spoken by God himself amid the thunders of Sinai, and written with his own finger on the tables of stone. Not one command has been annulled; not a jot or tittle has been changed. While God gave to Moses a copy of his law, he preserved the great original in the sanctuary above. Tracing down its holy precepts, the seekers for truth found, in the very bosom of the decalogue, the fourth commandment, as it was first proclaimed: ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy…’” {4SP 273.3}

What are the two purposes for the warning against the beast and his image contained in the third message?
The first purpose is to tell the people of God to get ready for the things to come
As the ministration of Jesus closed in the holy place, and He passed into the holiest, and stood before the ark containing the law of God, He sent another mighty angel with a third message to the world. A parchment was placed in the angel’s hand, and as he descended to the earth in power and majesty, he proclaimed a fearful warning, with the most terrible threatening ever borne to man. This message was designed to put the children of God upon their guard, by showing them the hour of temptation and anguish that was before them {EW 254.1}
The second purpose is to tell those other people that they are to be destroyed soon and the only way to escape is to come to Christ.
The most fearful threatening ever addressed to mortals is contained in the third angel’s message. That must be a terrible sin which calls down the wrath of God unmingled with mercy. Men are not to be left in darkness concerning this important matter; the warning against this sin is to be given to the world before the visitation of God’s judgments, that all may know why they are to be inflicted, and have opportunity to escape them… The warning of the third angel… will command the attention of the world. {GC 449.2}
What does it mean to receive the mark of the beast?
Worshiping on Sunday instead of Saturday.
John was called to behold a people distinct from those who worship the beast and his image by keeping the first day of the week. The observance of this day is the mark of the beast (Letter 31, 1898). {7BC 979.11}
What is “the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation”?
plagues which are like the plagues of Egypt.
When Christ ceases His intercession in the sanctuary, the unmingled wrath threatened against those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark (Revelation 14:9, 10), will be poured out. The plagues upon Egypt when God was about to deliver Israel were similar in character to those more terrible and extensive judgments which are to fall upon the world just before the final deliverance of God’s people. {GC 627.3} See Rev. 16.
How are those who receive the mark of the beast “tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”?
Because they never went to the Most Holy place and didn’t accept all of Gods commandments, they are sinners that are not covered by Jesus’ blood. So the presence of God is to great for them to bear and it consumes them.
What does it mean that “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever”? Give some Biblical support. You could also take a look at Jude 7 and Isa. 34:10,11.
In jude 7 it says that Sodom and Gomorra that they are experiencing the vengeance of a eternal fire . but you can not still find an city that is still burning. So it seems that the language is figurative and that they will not be tormented for a literal forever instead just for a time.

SAM and the Midnight Cry

When was the second angel’s message given?
In the summer of 1844

THE SECOND ANGEL’S MESSAGE HAD ITS INITIAL SOUNDING EARLY IN THE SUMMER OF 1844 IN THE CALL TO THE ADVENT BELIEVERS TO COME OUT OF THE NOMINAL CHURCHES THAT HAD REJECTED THE PROCLAMATION OF THE FIRST ANGEL’S MESSAGE. AND WHILE IT IS TRUE THAT THE SECOND ANGEL’S MESSAGE CONTINUES TO BE PRESENT TRUTH, THERE WAS A CLIMACTIC CLOSING UP OF THE SECOND ANGEL’S MESSAGE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING OCTOBER 22, 1844. WHEN THE MESSAGES OF THE THREE ANGELS COME PROMINENTLY BEFORE THE WORLD AGAIN JUST BEFORE THE SECOND ADVENT OF CHRIST, THE ANGEL OF REVELATION 18:1 JOINS IN THE PROCLAMATION OF THE SECOND ANGEL IN THE MESSAGE THAT “BABYLON IS FALLEN.” “COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE.” SEE THE CHAPTER “THE FINAL WARNING” IN THE GREAT CONTROVERSY, PAGES 603-612. {EW 304.1}

Who did the second angel’s message have a more direct application to? To the churches in the united states.

The second angel’s message of Revelation 14 was first preached in the summer of 1844, and it then had a more direct application to the churches of the United States, where the warning of the judgment had been most widely proclaimed and most generally rejected, and where the declension in the churches had been most rapid. But the message of the second angel did not reach its complete fulfillment in 1844. The churches then experienced a moral fall, in consequence of their refusal of the light of the advent message; but that fall was not complete. As they have continued to reject the special truths for this time they have fallen lower and lower. Not yet, however, can it be said that “Babylon is fallen,… because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”

Why was the second angel’s message given? To call the advent believers out of the fallen protestant churches.

“The first angel was followed by a second, proclaiming, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” [REV. 14:8] This message was understood by Adventists to be an announcement of the moral fall of the churches in consequence of their rejection of the first message. The proclamation, “Babylon is fallen,” was given in the summer of 1844, and as the result, about fifty thousand withdrew from these churches.” {4SP 232.1}

What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message? [A how problem]

The first angel’s message was a matter of life and death. Those who accepted the truth were given light but those who rejected it were left in darkness.

All who saw the light of the first and second angels’ messages and rejected that light, were left in darkness. {1SM 63.9}

As the churches refused to receive the first angel’s message, they rejected the light from heaven and fell from the favor of God. They trusted to their own strength, and by opposing the first message placed themselves where they could not see the light of the second angel’s message. But the beloved of God, who were oppressed, accepted the message, “Babylon is fallen,” and left the churches. {EW 237.2}

What is the “action step” of the second angel’s message?

To the leave the fallen churches of Babylon and To proclaim to the world the testimony of Christ.

But the beloved of God, who were oppressed, accepted the message, “Babylon is fallen,” and left the churches. {EW 237.2}

Our work is to proclaim the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. “Prepare to meet thy God” (Amos 4:12), is the warning to be given to the world. It is a warning to us individually. We are called upon to lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us. There is a work for you, my brother, to do, to yoke up with Christ. Make sure that your building is on the rock. Do not risk eternity on a probability. You may not live to participate in the perilous scenes on which we are now entering. The life of no one of us is assured for any given time. Should you not watch every moment? Should you not closely examine your own self, and inquire, What will eternity be to me? ( 2SM 116-117)

When was the climactic closing up of the second angel’s message?

Immediately preceding Oct 22 1844.

THERE WAS A CLIMACTIC CLOSING UP OF THE SECOND ANGEL’S MESSAGE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING OCTOBER 22, 1844. WHEN THE MESSAGES OF THE THREE ANGELS COME PROMINENTLY BEFORE THE WORLD AGAIN JUST BEFORE THE SECOND ADVENT OF CHRIST, THE ANGEL OF REVELATION 18:1 JOINS IN THE PROCLAMATION OF THE SECOND ANGEL IN THE MESSAGE THAT “BABYLON IS FALLEN.” “COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE.” SEE THE CHAPTER “THE FINAL WARNING” IN THE GREAT CONTROVERSY, PAGES 603-612. {EW 304.1}

What was the Midnight Cry?

“Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” ( Matt 25:6)
When was the Midnight Cry given?

“ near the close of the second angel’s message”

Near the close of the second angel’s message, [SEE APPENDIX BELOW.] I saw a great light from heaven shining upon the people of God. The rays of this light seemed bright as the sun. And I heard the voices of angels crying, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” {EW 238.1}

What was the purpose of the Midnight Cry?

“to give power to the second angel’s message”and “ to arouse the discouraged saints and prepare them for the great work before them.” Also to prepare them to enter the most holy place.

This was the midnight cry, which was to give power to the second angel’s message. Angels were sent from heaven to arouse the discouraged saints and prepare them for the great work before them. The most talented men were not the first to receive this message. Angels were sent to the humble, devoted ones, and constrained them to raise the cry, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” Those entrusted with the cry made haste, and in the power of the Holy Spirit sounded the message, and aroused their discouraged brethren. This work did not stand in the wisdom and learning of men, but in the power of God, and His saints who heard the cry could not resist it. The most spiritual received this message first, and those who had formerly led in the work were the last to receive and help swell the cry, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” {EW 238.2}

Those who rejected the first message could not be benefited by the second; neither were they benefited by the midnight cry, which was to prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary. And by rejecting the two former messages, they have so darkened their understanding that they can see no light in the third angel’s message, which shows the way into the most holy place. I saw that as the Jews crucified Jesus, so the nominal churches had crucified these messages, and therefore they have no knowledge of the way into the most holy, and they cannot be benefited by the intercession of Jesus there. {EW 260.1}

For those who had received the first angel’s message, how did the Midnight Cry prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary?

Those who had accepted the first angel’s message were eager to learn, so when the midnight cry came it gave them new light and caused them to “seek a living experience for themselves.” Because of their seeking caused them to have a closer relationship with Jesus and He gave them more understanding about the Most Holy Place. This in turn “prepared them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary.”

In every part of the land, light was given upon the second angel’s message, and the cry melted the hearts of thousands. It went from city to city, and from village to village, until the waiting people of God were fully aroused. In many churches the message was not permitted to be given, and a large company who had the living testimony left these fallen churches. A mighty work was accomplished by the midnight cry. The message was heart-searching, leading the believers to seek a living experience for themselves. They knew that they could not lean upon one another. {EW 238.3}

Those who rejected the first message could not be benefited by the second; neither were they benefited by the midnight cry, which was to prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary. And by rejecting the two former messages, they have so darkened their understanding that they can see no light in the third angel’s message, which shows the way into the most holy place. {SR 387.2}

Just as Jesus cleansed the temple both at the beginning and at the end of His public ministry, so in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. What are the two distinct calls to the churches, and when are these two calls made?

1. “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” 2. “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities”

When Jesus began His public ministry, He cleansed the temple from its sacrilegious profanation. Among the last acts of His ministry was the second cleansing of the temple. So in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel’s message is, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” And in the loud cry of the third angel’s message a voice is heard from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities” (RH Dec. 6, 1892). {7BC 985.5}
First call made in the summer of 1844.

The second call should be continually given until the close of Jesus’ ministerial work.

FAM

Who gives the first angel’s message? “ the people who accept the light of God’s message” ( God’s people)
These three angels represent the people who accept the light of God’s messages, and go forth as His agents to sound the warning throughout the length and breadth of the earth. {ST, January 25, 1910 par. 5}

When was the first angel’s message first given? The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, {CW 26.2}

Where did the prophecy of the first angel’s message have its most direct fulfillment? To the United States then on to the world.
To William Miller and his colaborers it was given to preach the warning in America. This country became the center of the great advent movement. It was here that the prophecy of the first angel’s message had its most direct fulfillment. The writings of Miller and his associates were carried to distant lands. Wherever missionaries had penetrated in all the world, were sent the glad tidings of Christ’s speedy return. Far and wide spread the message of the everlasting gospel: “Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come.” ( GC 368.1)

Why was the first angel’s message given? “Because the principles of the churches have become corrupted” and because the people had fallen away and need to be awaken.
“Why are the messages of Revelation fourteen given? Because the principles of the churches have become corrupted. . . . [Rev. 14:6-10 quoted.]“ {7BC 979.1}
To prepare a people to stand in the day of God, a great work of reform was to be accomplished. God saw that many of His professed people were not building for eternity, and in His mercy He was about to send a message of warning to arouse them from their stupor and lead them to make ready for the coming of the Lord. {GC 311.2}
How is the first angel’s message announcing ” the hour of His judgment is come,” a part of the gospel? “ points to the closing work of Christ’s ministration for the salvation of men”
The announcement, “The hour of His judgment is come,” points to the closing work of Christ’s ministration for the salvation of men. It heralds a truth which must be proclaimed until the Saviour’s intercession shall cease and He shall return to the earth to take His people to Himself. The work of judgment which began in 1844 must continue until the cases of all are decided, both of the living and the dead; hence it will extend to the close of human probation. {GC 435.2}

What were the consequences to the churches when they rejected the first angel’s message? [A how problem] The first angel’s message was a matter of life and death. Those who accepted the truth were given light but those who rejected it were left in darkness.
All who saw the light of the first and second angels’ messages and rejected that light, were left in darkness. {1SM 63.9}

How does the first angel’s message influence the second angel’s message? Because most of the church had rejected the first angel’s message there was a necessity for another call to bring the remaining true believers out of babylon.
“The first angel was followed by a second, proclaiming, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” [REV. 14:8] This message was understood by Adventists to be an announcement of the moral fall of the churches in consequence of their rejection of the first message. The proclamation, “Babylon is fallen,” was given in the summer of 1844, and as the result, about fifty thousand withdrew from these churches.“ {4SP 232.1
How is the first angel’s message still relevant today? The message is still relevant today because some have not heard this message and when they hear it, it will be the first time they heard about the judgement.. Also the judgement is still going on.
The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed. It is just as essential now as ever before that they shall be repeated to those who are seeking for the truth..–Manuscript 32, 1896. {CW 26.2}

What is the “action step” for the first angel’s message? This message was given so we can be prepared for the judgment. But having they knowledge of what is to come is not enough we must act upon it.
“fear God, and give glory to Him,” “and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”The result of an acceptance of these messages is given in the word: “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” In order to be prepared for the judgment, it is necessary that men should keep the law of God. That law will be the standard of character in the judgment. {GC 435.2}
The message commands them to “fear God, and give glory to Him,” “and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”The result of an acceptance of these messages is given in the word: “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” In order to be prepared for the judgment, it is necessary that men should keep the law of God. That law will be the standard of character in the judgment. {GC 435.2}

How does the first angel’s message, as it was perceived during the advent movement of 1840-1844, fit together with the actual content of the first angel’s message?
The first angel’s message was perceived to be that Jesus was coming. However the actual content of the first angel’s message was to say that Jesus is coming soon. Also to help prepare  people for His coming.

The first angel’s message of Revelation 14, announcing the hour of God’s judgment and calling upon men to fear and worship Him, was designed to separate the professed people of God from the corrupting influences of the world and to arouse them to see their true condition of worldliness and backsliding. In this message, God has sent to the church a warning, which, had it been accepted, would have corrected the evils that were shutting them away from Him. Had they received the message from heaven, humbling their hearts before the Lord and seeking in sincerity a preparation to stand in His presence, the Spirit and power of God would have been manifested among them. The church would again have reached that blessed state of unity, faith, and love which existed in apostolic days, when the believers “were of one heart and of one soul,” and “spake the word of God with boldness,” when “the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 4:32, 31; 2:47. “  {GC 379.1

the seals

In Revelation 6 it is talking about 7 seals. The first five seals are represented by horses. In Song of Solomon 1:9, the woman is referred to as horse. In prophecy a women represents the church. Now since a woman represents the church and a horse represents a woman, then the horse must represent the church also. We can now say that these horses represent different states of the church.

1st seal.

When the first seal opens, a white horse comes out conquering. The first thing we look at is the color of the horse: White. White symbolizes perfection, or the perfect character that the church receives at the marriage. Taking this into consideration we can now say that this horse represents the people that have received the 3rd Angels message and went to the Most Holy Place for the marriage.

2nd seal
Then the second seal opens a red horse comes forth. Red represents blood or killing. The Gospel came as cutting sword to those who refused the 1st angels message. So the Red horse represents the people and the affliction they endured for refusing the 1st angels message.

3rd seal
Next the third seal a black horse comes forth with a balance in hand. The color black comes from a lack of something, darkness comes because there is a lack of light. So the black represents a lack of truth. the balance we can see represents the yoke of slavery because the Christians at this time were in bondage not literal bondage but spiritual because they thought they were justified by the law and not by faith has Paul said. In Rev 6:6 its says “…and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.” The oil represents the Holy Spirit and the “wine” represents Christ’s blood. By not hurting the oil and the wine it is saying that even through this lack of truth the mediation work of Christ still goes on.

4th seal

The fourth seal opens and a pale horse comes forth whose name is death and hell follows him. Pale refers dead people or the total spiritual death. This seal opens when the church and government institute the Sunday law and that hell followed him shows that the people with this spiritual death are destined to a second death. It also it says the power was given to him to kill with a sword is saying that these people will prosecute and kill those who are the true followers of Christ.

5th seal

When fifth seal opens it shows the souls of those who were killed for the word of God under the alter. This represents the judgment of the dead. Also in verse11 it says that a white robe is given unto them. This is representing the marriage were we all receive a new robe. It then says that the they should rest a season, this is saying that the dead was to rest longer while the living saints were judged, martyred, and persecuted.

6th seal
When the six seal opens there is ‘a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;” these things are signs of the times.

7th seal

The seventh seal then opens and there is 30 min of silence. This time of silence is when the angels who were previously singing stop and there is a period of awful silence. This is after Gods people cry out shall be able to stand.

The Book

The book

In Revelation 5 we see that there is the book. It also says that this book is sealed. So the question is,” when will this book be unsealed or has it been unsealed already?” From Dan 12:4 we can see that that this sealed book is related to the events in the last days.
The book that was sealed was not the book of Revelation, but that portion of Daniel which related to the last days. {17MR 6.3}
But since 1798 the book of Daniel has been unsealed… {GC 356.2}
From these two quotes, we can see that the book in Rev 5 is unsealed at 1798. So the book was sealed until 1798 because it pertained to the last day events. Moreover, since 1798 it has been unsealed.

So where is the setting for all of this? Rev 4 helps give us a glimpse into where it is happening. First we see in Rev 5:7 “And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.”

We see that the book was in the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. It can logically see that the book is where the throne is. In Rev 4 we see it says a “a door is opened” and “a throne was set in heaven”. Since the holy place was always accessible, if there was a door that opened it would be to the most holy place, which has to have a right time to open. Also a throne is more likely to be in the highest of places . so we can now see that the setting is in the most holly place. This part of a plan that starts in the advent movement (1840-1844) all the way to the second coming. this part covers the final redemption plan, second coming and the judgment.

Where is this book written? Rev. says that the book is writing within. The word “ within” refers to being written in the heart. So this book is a book of the heart or in the heart. It also says it is written on the backside, which poses another question what is the backside? In the Greek, the backside refers to a time like after or behind. This means that some people experience this behind or after than other people.

In Rev. 4 it says that a “door was opened.” This door was opened on 1844. During the advent movement(1840-1844) the 1st angels message was proclaimed but misinterpreted as “Jesus is coming” instead of the Judgment is set. Next the message “Babylon is fallen”, was proclaimed in the spring of 1844, this message was connected with the feet of the image showing that the clay has mixed with iron. This is the 2nd angels message. When the 3rd proclaimed we never experienced it so we are on the backside or we are behind.

Character

Since the fall of man, man has had the tendency towards evil habits. The sinful thoughts, actions, and tendency towards evil habits make the defective character. We automatically have this defective character when we are born and we continue to have this defective character until we are cleansed at the final atonement when God takes away our spots and blemishes.

The start of the defective character is when we are born with the natural tendencies towards evil; these tendencies cultivate sinful thoughts and feelings. Progressive conversion is needed to help stop this defective character, but one must go through the marriage and have God cleans them from their defective character and give them a Godly character.

We build our characters by developing our mental and moral powers. We must overcome every wrong thought and action with the help of the Holy Spirit. We also go through a progressive conversion process, which helps us, with the help of God, to overcome every wrong action, thought, and feeling.

Judgment, reason, memory, and understanding are all our mental powers. Our moral power is our conscience, self-control, and will. These two powers, mental and moral, are the workmen that help build our character.

When we are building, our character there is a very important aspect that we can not do on or own: changing our desires. Christ’s blood is the only thing that can cleanse our spots and blemishes and take away our selfish desires. Before we go through the time of trouble, it is necessary to go through the marriage. This is because during the last days we will have to stand without a mediator. If our character has spots and blemishes, we will be consumed. Therefore, it is necessary to have a blameless character if we are to stand. Spiritualistic theories teach that your own works can save you. They think that their character is good enough to go through the time of trouble, without a mediator, and they do not have to go through the marriage to remove their sinful nature. This belief gets rid of the final atonement and the necessity for the marriage.

Daniel 9

Daniel 8 and Daniel 9 are connected; they are two parts of a vision.

Daniel 9: 24 “Seventy weeks are determined on thy people and upon thy holy city”

Seventy weeks = 490 days. 490 days = 490 years (one day equals a year in prophetic time). Now we see that this is a 490 year prophecy. Also the verse mentions determined which also means cut off. The other prophetic time mentioned was the 2300 day (year) prophecy in Daniel 8. This means that the 490 days are cut off or subtracted from the 2300 days. This means that they must have the same starting point. So when does these prophecy’s begin?

Dan. 9:25—Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem…

This verse gives us a hint of when the prophecy begins, at “the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem”. This commandment was fully completed and carried out by King Artaxerxes in the year 457 B.C.

If we subtract 457 from 2300 we get 1843. The thing that is wrong with this calculation is that it takes in account a year 0. All historians agree that there was no year 0 so if you take out this year you end up with 1844. Since the decree was in the fall of 457 B.C. Then it would end in the fall of A.D. 1844.

Is there anyway we can get more specific than just the fall of A.D. 1844?
In Daniel 8:14 it says “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed”

This is talking about the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary also known as the Final Atonement. We know that there is a parallel between the Old Testament sanctuary and the Heavenly sanctuary. We know that the Old Testament sanctuary was cleansed once a year “on the tenth day of the seventh month”( Lev. 16:29) we can now reason that the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary happened on the same day that the Old Testament sanctuary was cleansed. Because of the difference of the ancient and modern calendar, when you calculate the date you come up with October 22 of 1844. This is the ending date for the 2300 day prophecy.

Daniel 8

Daniel 8: 10, 11 “…And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.” “…Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host…”

“Host” The host represents God’s people. God’s people are also referred to as stars ( Rev. 22:16) the prince of the host is Jesus Christ who is the bright, and morning start( Rev. 22:16)

“Stamped” The little horn stamps on God’s people by leading them astray and teaching them false doctrines which leads them away from Jesus.

Daniel 8:12 “the host was given to him against the daily by reason of transgression “
The host represents the people that have gone to Satan’s side and fight against the daily which is the daily work of mediation by Jesus for our sins. They don’t feel the need for mediation but instead choose to be saved by their works or they want to be saved in their sins.

Daniel 8:13 the vision is about the daily and the transgression of desolation.
There are two altars in the sanctuary that involved in the daily mediation. The first altar is the altar of burnt offering which represents Christ’s substitutionary death. The second altar is the altar of incense which represents Christ’s substitutionary life. These altars are the main things in this process in mediation by Christ for our sins.

The transgression of desolation refers to original sin were everybody is born a sinner.

“Trodden under foot” the starry host (God’s people) and the sanctuary is trodden under foot. Because of sin people’s hearts are hardened and their character is trodden and impure.

Daniel 8:14 at the cleansing of the sanctuary removes all our selfish thoughts and sins that we have confessed.

Daniel 8: 23 “transgressors are to come full” the papacy ,through influence of Satan ,changed Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday . The half converted pagans are the transgressors. They come to full after this change of the day of worship.

Daniel 8:25 “broken without hand” this is similar to Daniel 2:45 in which the rock is cut out without hands . This represents Jesus’ kingdom and the law. It is this law that judges the papacy and destroys it.
